Yearbook

Yes! Attending Reunion
Comments:

Went to CalPoly in San Luis Obispo for one year with Wally Burfine. Then was lucky to get a Navy NROTC ride to Oregon State and graduated with a BS in Math. Spent the next 20 years in the Submarine Force, Command of the USS WAHOO. Command of the Submarine ForceTactical Weapons Team, and a great tour for two years in Italy as the Submarine advisor to the Sixth Fleet. In between I received a Masters in Physics from the Navy PG School in Monterey and another Masters from the Naval War College in Newport.
Had a shock going to the CO of a Tender in Norfolk where there were 140 women sailors on board. They were better performers than the guys!! My last tour was as the Professor of Naval Sience at USC and UCLA from 1990 til 1994. My regret is that I arrived at USC just after Ted Tollner left USC.
Retirement is great. I had offers of a job but decided to just retire since I could. My life now is sailing, doing a lot of volunteer work for Mystic Seaport Museum. and also sailing for them. We will be at the Reunion and look forward to seeing everyone. Will try to send a picture later Fred

School Story:

My favorite teacher was Black Bart Batholomew, in Math and Physics he inspired me and was tough.
I always loved sports but never could find my spot in high school. I loved being the manager for football and Basketball with Coach Presley. At Oregon State I was spotted as being small(suprise) by the crew coach and ended up being the coxwain on the varsity crew where we won a few races ( UCLA, USC, STanford ) but always got our ass kicked by University of Washington. Hope to see a lot of people at the reunion

What do you do for fun?

Sail. I have a USCG license so use that to take people on sail charters, but mostly sail on our own boat which is a Sabre 38.

What was your yearbook blurb? Did you do what you planned?

Absolutely. Made the Navy my career, did exciting things in the submarine force, had four commands including Professor of Naval Science at USC and UCLA just a year after Ted Tollner left there at USC.

Will you attend the reunion?

Yes
