I first met Steve Small At Wilbur. I had a major crush on him right until we went on to high school. He was a sweet guy. I heard that he died in an automobile accident, but don't know any details.

Steve was always competitive and perfectionist. He and I both played the clarinet in the band and orchestra. We were always trying to compete with each otherl He was just a little better at the clarinet than I was. We both loved playing in the ban and orchestra. I am sorry he is gone.

Steve was my VERY good friend. We lived around the corner from each other all through Wilbur and Sophomore year at Cubberley. Liked each other in 7th grade but were just good friends after that. I helped him fold newpapers at least once a week when he had a paper route and usually made him late delivering papers because we spent alot of time just "hanging out" with each other. I visited his parents about 10 years ago and they were still in the same house on Redwood Circle. They told me that they had been in contact with Curt Sechler over the years, even after Steve died. I became of fan of the clarinet back in those days and never see someone play it that I don't think of him. Judy Wilson, Mary Alyce Carpenter, Marvina Tupper and I used to spend lots of time with Steve, Mike Fleischman, Don Gray and Alan Parks. Sort of grew up together in those jr hi years.
So sorry he's gone, would love to have made contact with him again.
