I graduated from Pomona College in 1963. Having enrolled in ROTC during college, I was afforded a pretty good tour in the army which allowed me to see most of Europe. (The kids today call it their GAP year) I returned to attend UC Berkeley in 1965 where I ended up, in 1968, with an MBA, concentrating in Real Estate and Urban Economics.
Over the course of the next 40 years I have done a little bit of everything in the field of real estate from consulting to asset management, and back to consulting. This was all in California while I lived in various places between Redwood City and Mountain View, ending up near Skyline Blvd. in Woodside.
Mary and I have been married since 1974. We were fortunate to be able to adopt two wonderful children from the Gladney home in Fort Worth, Texas. For many years, we have been coming to Leland, a small resort town in northwestern Michigan for summer vacations. A few years ago we decided it would be a good place to retire. Two years ago we bought a house in Leland, and last year, we sold our house in California, moved Mary's horses to Michigan, and moved here permanently.
I still return to California every few months to visit my 94 year old mother, take care of a few remaining business affairs, and visit friends. We have heard a few comments about our retirement being a bit against the grain. Actually I love snow, and for the first time in my life, will be able to experience four distinct seasons. We live a few hundred yards from Lake Michigan amid a truly beautiful landscape of Cherry Orchards, and vineyards. So far, I have no regrets
